Special Studio Hours
The studio is open for part of the day, but the regular class schedule is adjusted.
Halloween
The studio will close at 6:30 PM.
Classes ending by 6:30 PM will run as scheduled. Classes beginning after 6:30 PM, or continuing beyond 6:30 PM, will not meet.
Dancers whose classes are affected may schedule an appropriate makeup class.
Planned Studio Closures
No regularly scheduled recreational classes will be held on the dates below. Makeup classes may be scheduled in another appropriate class.

Districtwide Closures Only
509 Collective’s planned closures generally align with days when Spokane Public Schools is closed districtwide, including holidays, professional learning days, and districtwide school breaks.
We do not automatically close for conferences, late-start days, or no-school days that apply only to specific schools, programs, or grade levels.
The dates published on this page are the official 509 Collective closure dates. Families should refer to this page rather than assuming every change to the school calendar affects studio classes.

Makeup classes, competition expectations, and communication procedures help dancers stay connected and informed.
Schedule a Makeup Class
When a regularly scheduled class is canceled—whether for a planned studio closure or an unexpected schedule change—dancers may schedule a makeup class in another age- and level-appropriate class.
A makeup class can be a great opportunity to try a new style, meet another faculty member, and experience a different part of the 509 Collective program.
You can schedule these directly in the Parent Portal or contact the studio in advance so our team can recommend an appropriate option and confirm that space is available.

Competition dancers may follow a different schedule and may be expected to attend rehearsals, choreography sessions, performances, conventions, or other team activities during a scheduled studio closure.
Any required competition activities will be communicated directly by faculty. Competition families should review faculty messages, BAND announcements, and the Competition Family Hub before making plans.

Unexpected closures may occur because of severe weather, unsafe travel conditions, facility concerns, or other circumstances outside the studio’s control.
Any unexpected closure or schedule adjustment will be communicated through email and 509 Collective social media.
Please look for a studio-specific announcement rather than relying only on the District 81 closure status.
Dancers whose regularly scheduled classes are canceled may arrange a makeup class.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does 509 Collective close for every District 81 no-school day?
No. We generally close when Spokane Public Schools is closed districtwide. We do not automatically close for school- or grade-specific conferences, late-start days, or other limited schedule changes.
Can my dancer take a makeup class after a closure?
Yes. When a regularly scheduled class is canceled because of a planned or unexpected studio closure, dancers may schedule a makeup class in another age- and level-appropriate class, subject to availability.
Makeup classes can be a fun opportunity to try a new style. Schedule these through the Parent Portal or contact the studio in advance so we can help select and confirm an appropriate class.
Are planned studio closures built into tuition?
Planned breaks are included in the full-season class calendar and tuition structure. Dancers may still choose to attend an available makeup class when their regularly scheduled class is canceled.
Could competition dancers still have rehearsal during a closure?
Yes. Competition dancers may be expected to attend rehearsals, choreography, performances, conventions, or other team activities during a studio closure. Faculty will communicate these expectations directly.
How will we hear about an unexpected closure?
Unexpected closures and schedule adjustments will be communicated through email and 509 Collective social media. Families should always look for a studio-specific announcement.
What happens on Halloween?
The studio will close at 6:30 PM on October 31. Classes ending by 6:30 PM will meet as scheduled. Classes beginning after 6:30 PM, or continuing beyond 6:30 PM, will not meet.
